PhD position: Formal methods in control (Munich, Germany)

We invite applications for a doctoral researcher position in the field of formal methods in control. The successful candidate is expected to advance theory of as well as computational methods for
abstraction-based controller synthesis, to a degree that facilitates routine, fully automated, practical application of the approach to nonlinear continuous-state plants and complex specifications. The
focus is on synthesis algorithms that are both efficient and formally correct.

Abstract submission is open for VeRoLog 2017 (Amsterdam, July 10-12)

The VeRoLog 2017 website (https://verolog2017.sciencesconf.org/) is ready to accept the submission of the abstracts. The maximum length of the abstracts is 250 words, the submission deadline is February 28, 2017. The acceptance notification is scheduled for March 31, 2017. An updated call for abstracts can be found on the website. For any information about the conference, the email address is verolog2017@gmail.com

Special Session at the CEC2017 - Call for Papers

Dear All,

Xin-She Yang, Yuxin Zhao and me invite all of you to submit a paper to the following special session in the CEC2017: Nature-Inspired Computation in Navigation and Vehicle Routing (NICNaVR 2017)

VeRoLog Solver Challenge 2016-2017

Dear reader,

we would like to inform you on the VeRoLog Solver Challenge 2016-2017. As of now, you can not only defend your honor but also fill your pockets: we are pleased to announce that the all-time-best instances are available from the website (https://verolog.ortec.com). This means that you can submit solutions to any of these instances, and over time we will award small prizes for the best submissions (per instance). This prize consists of a part for the time your solution was the best one, and a part for the final best solution.

Call for mini-symposia: CM3 2017 - Computation and Big Data in Transport

New Journal: Journal on Vehicle Routing Algorithms

Words from the editor in chief, Marc Sevaux:

Dear VeRoLog members,

Christian Prins and myself are pleased to announce the creation of a new Springer journal: Journal on Vehicle Routing Algorithms (JVRA)

-       first journal 100% dedicated to routing problems at large

-       followed from the very beginning by Journal Citation Reports (Thomson Reuters)

-       covers routing problems in road, rail, maritime or air transportation

-       application in transportation, services, robotics, manufacturing

-       open to new technologies (smart vehicles, electric vehicles etc.)

All your contributions are welcome!

Extended deadline for Special Issues in EURO Journal on Transportation and Logistics

The deadline for submitting to one of the two special issues of EURO Journal on Transportation and Logistics

- Advances in Vehicle Routing and Logistics Optimization: exact methods
- Advances in Vehicle Routing and Logistics Optimization: heuristics

that followed VeRolog 2016 in Nantes and EURO 2016 in Poznan has been postponed to November 15, 2016.

The call for papers is available here: https://verolog2016.sciencesconf.org/data/pages/Si_EJTL_VEROLOG_cfp_final_ext.pdf
Submissions are not limited to papers presented at VeRoLog 2016 or Euro 2016.

VeRoLog solver challenge

The problem of the VeRoLog solver challenge is based on a routing challenge faced by a large international herd improvement company. The task at hand is to regularly measure the quality of milk samples at a number of farm locations, the customers. For this, special measuring tools are needed, and those have to be delivered to the customers at their request. After the measurement, the tools have to be picked up again. The planning of these deliveries and pickups will be the challenge for the competition.

The challenge started during the VeRoLog meeting in Nantes (June 2016) and ends at the VeRoLog meeting of 2017.

In the meanwhile, the site includes:

- a registration form
- a forum (all questions asked there have been answered)
